HeartWare is developing a family of implantable Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), for the treatment of advanced heart failure. Heart failure is one of the leading causes of death in the developed world, affecting over 10 million people.
|

HeartWare’s lead product, the HVADTM, is the smallest full-output LVAD in the clinic. It is the only “3rd generation” LVAD implantable in the pericardial space, directly adjacent to the heart, and the only centrifugal pump designed to be implanted above the diaphragm. The HVADTM’s small size and novel configuration are expected to lead to significant clinical advantages relative to competing devices.

The HVADTM is currently the subject of an international clinical trial involving five investigational centers in Europe and Australia. HeartWare aims to complete enrolment in the trial by June 2007.

In parallel with the HVADTM HeartWare is developing a portfolio of further miniaturized devices, implantable by progressively less invasive surgery. HeartWare’s MVADTM, currently in pre-clinical studies, is expected to be implanted by a minimally invasive surgical approach. The Company’s IV-VADTM, currently at prototype stage, is expected to be delivered by catheter.

HeartWare is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX: HTW). The Company’s corporate head office is in Sydney, Australia. All operating and manufacturing activities are conducted at the HeartWare facility in Miramar, Florida.
